Today Sony introduced the latest additions to its Xperia Z series of flagship smartphones as it unveiled the Xperia Z3 and a “Compact” version of the device. Offering an immersive 5.2″ screen for entertainment and a lighter, smaller 4.6″ screen, the two versions of Sony’s new smartphone offer features like advanced waterproofing, enhanced camera experiences and applications, up to 48 hours of battery life, and even remote play for the PlayStation 4.

Just 7.3mm thick with a super-slim, rounded aluminum frame and weighing just 152 grams — or 8.6mm thick and 129 grams for the Compact — the Z3 features a fully-integrated Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU and 4G LTE while additional features include a battery-saving STAMINA Mode, award-winning Cyber-shot and Handycam technologies, a 1/2.3” ExmorRS for mobile sensor, BIONZ mobile processing, a new 25mm wide-angle Sony G Lens, the world’s first mobile ISO 12800 sensitivity, and the ability to record ultra high-definition 4K video. The phone even has optimized audio for Hi-Res Audio headphones like Sony’s own MDR-1A range, as well as upscaling DSEE HX technology, Digital Noise Cancelling technology, and front-facing stereo speakers with S-Force Front Surround Sound. Finally, the NFC compatibility means users can connect their Z3 and share content with more than 160 Sony One Touch-enabled devices.

Both versions of the Sony Xperia Z3 are slated for a Fall 2014 release.
