In collaboration with ASICS and Onitsuka Tiger, Hanon presents its “Glover” pack for Fall 2014. Connecting ASICS and Onitsuka Tiger’s Japanese links with Hanon’s home in Aberdeen, the seasonal drop is a nod to legendary 19th century explorer and shipping merchant Thomas Glover. Pivotal to the industrialization of the Asian archipelago thanks to his introduction of the steam engine to the islands, Glover also played an important part in overthrowing the establishment, supplying the rebelling samurai with Scottish-designed ships and modern arms.
Thus, the “Glover” pack takes cues from both Glover’s Scottish roots and his adopted home of Japan. While the ASICS Gel Epirus is a nod to Scottish thistle with an execution of mint green suede, purple nubuck, quilted red lining, and tartan footbeds, the Onitsuka Tiger Colorado Eighty-Five dons perforated suede and a combination of nubuck and synthetic overlays in a colorway of black and golden yellow. Additional details on the Colorado Eighty-Five include a speckled eyestay, graphic tea-inspired footbeds, a silvery collar, and an embossed depiction of Glover’s iconic mustache at the heel.
Hanon’s “Glover” pack is set to launch both in-store and online this Saturday, September 27.
